Job description: The Associate Manager for Process Engineering of Critical Care Medical Devices is a people leader position to support the different manufacturing processes by ensuring that all product manufactured are compliant, harmonized and efficiently manner and are validated per design control utilizing best technologies, methods and statistical control process techniques. A key element of this role will also include to identify opportunities and lead the implementation of changes to drive improvements managing and/or lead a small team within assigned function. The Associate Manager will develop team members to increase business acumen and functional skills, the development of a body of knowledge for operational and best practices for testing, deploying, and fine-tuning new processes. The Associate Manager will formalize process improvements to help the end-to-end quality and performance engineering using LEAN/Six Sigma, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Cost methodologies. This position will report to the Senior Manager Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. This position will direct and manage Engineers on the Dominican Republic site.

Essential job functions:

  • Plan and direct assigned operational and project activities with the accountability for successful completion of assigned deliverables.
  • Work with cross functional team to enhance performance throughout operations KPI’s.
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of issues requires in-depth knowledge using Statistical Process Controls.
  • Create/update complex engineering documents including requirement specs, and risk documents with robust knowledge on design control requirements.
  • Lead staff in using project management, design for manufacturability, process/design excellence, LEAN, ergonomics, and knowledge transfer methodologies to ensure effective implementation of equipment and new technology and processes throughout the site.
  • Lead cross-functionally (Mfg, Quality, Maintenance, and Planning) and across the sites to implement new process operations strategies including capacity, facility, equipment, and processes with throughput to meet business goals.
  • Prepare analytics, executive summary, and update materials to facilitate strategic decision making and approval of new operation processes with Upper Management.
  • Work with his team in complex investigation throughout CAPA/NCR’s mechanism.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned.

Required Education/Skills/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, preferably Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree in Operations Management is desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering functions in the medical device industry with proven experience to manage technical and/or engineering disciplines and demonstrated informal mentoring and/or peer leadership skills.

Preferred:

  • Technical expertise and leadership in the area of manufacturing engineering: design for manufacturability, process excellence methodologies, LEAN experience, cGMP, EH&S guidelines, FDA guidelines, supplier development, ergonomics and process validation.
  • Proven track record in engineering processes as well as ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of engineering to the business. Ability to influence senior management and cross-functional partners in strategic decisions to invest in advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of financial budgeting and acumen to make financial and technical based recommendations to the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations.
  • Proven successful project management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision making.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of employees, suppliers, and consultants to support professional excellence.
  • Proven expertise in both Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing systems.
