Job description: Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics (P&SP) has an exciting opportunity for a Brazil Sustainability Manager based in Sao Paulo (BRA). The successful candidate will need to understand the inner working of the plastics circular economy in the region and define how Dow can participate and profit from it, it will structure and implement projects with that purpose, and support initiatives with key stakeholders that will help create the necessary regulatory framework and waste and recycling infrastructure to develop the circular economy ecosystem, aligned with the corporate sustainability goals of Stop the Waste and Close the Loop. She/he will also support initiatives that drive advocacy towards the right use and disposal of plastics.

As part of the Protect the Climate platform, she/he will understand and define alternatives to offer low carbon solutions to industries that we serve.

This role reports to the P&SP Regional Sustainability Director and will need to have close collaboration with several roles including the marketing team, local sales director, business communications, Government Affairs and TS&D, among others. P&SP Sustainability organization is part of the P&SP Marketing & Sales structure (commercial organization).

Core Responsibilities:

Map and understand the circular economy value chain and sustainability landscape for the region/country. Identify main players, key positions to control and unmet needs.

Build a strategy for the region that will allow Dow to turn circular economy into a business and that clearly describes the business model we will use.

Manage and implement a regional project pipeline that targets four areas: (1) PCR product line, (2) Create a circular economy ecosystem and develop new outlets for hard to recycle waste, (3) build influence, reputation and advocacy, and (4) Work with agencies and government to establish a regulatory framework that promotes sustainable solutions (5) Develop low carbon solutions

Present strategy and projects to the Circular VCT & Sustainability Council for discussion and approval.

Work with the Pack/ICT Marketing Managers, MDMs and account teams to offer and introduce the PCR product line at Converters and Brand Owners

Work with the Pack/ICT Marketing Managers, MDM and account teams to establish joint closed-loop projects with converters, Brand Owners and End-Users for hard to recycle materials.

Represent Dow at key industry associations and build an agenda with key external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Masters Degree background (preferred Engineering, Business or Marketing related majors).

Passion for sustainability, expertise in ESG desired.

Advanced/Fluent English and Portuguese. Advanced Spanish is desired.

A minimum of 3 years of commercial experience, 5 is preferred.

Good communication skills and team working.

Market and customer focus.

Strategic mindset and analytical skills. Capable of structuring complex business model deal with ambiguity and complexity.

Credibility and Business Acumen. Good breadth of knowledge of market dynamics, economic environment, technical, and organizational aspects of the business.

Preferred Qualifications:

Commercial or technical experience in areas related to sustainability and/or plastics.

Strong marketing competency with segmentation, stage gate processes, voice of customer, market blueprinting, tail analysis, etc.

Internal and external stakeholder’s management. Some examples could be associations, government, multifunctional teams, NGOs, waste and recycling players, etc.

Good presentation and public speaking skills.

This position has a hybrid work arrangement model, three days a week will be done in telework format and two days a week will be done from the office.
