Lead key parts of our Public Affairs strategy
This is a new role in a team based in Denmark, preferably Aarhus, which is at the heart of Arla’s external engagement.
As EU Public Affairs Manager you will be responsible for managing Arla Foods’ EU Public Affairs Strategy to grow Arla’s reputation and influence as an industry leader in sustainability, health and nutrition with political and civil society stakeholders in Brussels and across our core European markets.
You will work closely with the Director for Global Public Affairs, developing and executing engagement campaigns, following the EU legislative programme, identifying opportunities and risks, and leveraging partnerships across the food sector, civil society and governments.
You will also collaborate with global functional leads in Corporate Communications, Market Communications Directors, Member Relations, CSR, subject matter experts and external agencies and industry associations. All with the aim of understanding and engaging in the political and policy discussions that effect Arla from farm to fork.
Experience from the field where politics meets business
Most likely, you hold a master’s degree in e.g. political science, international relations/business. You will need 4+ years of experience working with or in an EU institution and have a deep understanding of the Brussels policy making process. It is a plus if you also have experience of working with or for an EU Member State’s government and have knowledge of EU sustainability policy.
Your policy/political experience will be complemented by great stakeholder engagement skills as well as a solid track record of advising senior colleagues on complex political issues. You will be experienced with building and managing external relationships on behalf of an organization, government department or elected politician. And you have delivered effective influencing campaigns that utilise relationships, reputation building and wider communications. You speak and write English effortlessly in addition to either Danish, Swedish, German or French.
On a personal level, you have the ability to operate and build effective working relationships in a matrix organisation. You can analyse complex information quickly and communicate it clearly to a broad range of internal stakeholders. You will also be able to identify opportunities to advance Arla Food’s agenda and spot risks, It is important that you can deliver against tight deadlines and competing priorities, so being organised as well as action-oriented is essential.
The role is Denmark based and will require some travel within Europe (COVID restrictions allowing).
