What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Director, Lending Insurance, as a Lending Insurance Specialist works in partnership with the Regional and Market leadership teams to build capability and confidence within the Core and High value sales forces, focused on lending, credit cards and wealth protection products. They will support the frontline in meeting their development and sales targets as outlined in their 120-day plans and their client experience targets by facilitating sessions that develop their capabilities in assessing client needs, sales and cross-selling based on needs and objection handling using an advice-based approach. They support the introduction of new products, offers, campaigns and large changes to the product suite they support.

The Lending Insurance Specialist is a partner of the Regional and Market leadership team, working in an assigned region/territory to conduct sales and product support activities in alignment with national strategy and regional and market priorities.

This role supports CIBC compliance with the CBA Insurance Code of Conduct, which is regulated by the Federal Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC).In addition, the role supports compliance with unique provincial regulations and bylaws related to creditor insurance and departs this knowledge and communicates changes to the broader Retail team.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Partners with Advice & Practice Excellence National team and Talent Development team with FADP, AFADP and FSRDP modules, which focus on lending, credit cards and wealth protection product sales and client needs assessment and advice.
  • Supports Market Vice President in building advice and sales capability, providing solutions through webinars, conference calls and seminars.
  • Assists with the implementation of new products and projects as well as offers and campaigns for lending, credit cards and wealth protection products.
  • Segments supported include Imperial Service, Private Wealth Management, Personal Banking and Mortgage Advisors.
  • Products supported include CIBC mortgages, lines of credit, loans, Home Power Plan (HPP), all CIBC credit cards and creditor insurance products.
  • Continuously and proactively develops their product and industry knowledge to ensure they remain a trusted advisor and partner to their Retail Distribution and Product partners.
  • Proactively identify operational efficiency improvements in an effort to better serve the CIBC enterprise and decrease operational cost through identification and introduction of innovative solutions for supporting a large and geographically dispersed sales force.
  • Support CIBC’s strategic objective of being a strong, innovative, relationship oriented bank.
  • Ensure focus remains on regional and market priorities and plans.
  • Provide advice, insight and guidance to the Product Managers to improve the products, processes, campaigns and offers they are developing for the sales force.
  • Understanding of CIBC offers, value proposition of each segment, as well as products and services.
  • Subject Matter Expert and In-depth knowledge of mortgage, lending, credit card and creditor insurance products and services including offers, and competitive landscape

  • This is a regular full time role with a schedule of 37.5 hours each week. Your hours will be based on our banking centre operations, and you may need to work days, evenings and weekends


  • Strong knowledge of strategic, business and sales processes
  • Extensive knowledge of lending, credit card and wealth protection products and services
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian financial services sector and current and emerging trends
  • Ability to sustain strong working relationships with key partners.
  • Extensive working knowledge of CIBC operations sufficient to understand client/partner needs and develop and execute on plans to meet those needs.
  • Strong presentation skills requiring the precise articulation of ideas, opinions, results and effectively convey conceptual information to a diverse audience
  • Experienced in training and coaching techniques, particularly related to virtual delivery of content.
  • Strong writing skills sufficient to prepare interpretive, analytical and creative materials involving precise articulations of ideas and opinions

  • Ability to analyze situations, diagnose problems, develop and implement solutions, often within narrow time frames.
