About the research project Preclinical studies focusing on the innate immune system demonstrate that immunological activation in tumors is essential for mounting an efficient anti-tumor immune response in several aggressive carcinomas when combined with checkpoint inhibitor therapy. Whether similar mechanisms are in place in clinical settings is currently unresolved. In this project, the candidate will be tasked with exploring a clinical cohort of cancer patients undergoing immunotherapy. Patient samplings throughout a longer period will be analyzed for various immunological markers and correlated to disease progression. We foresee that this work on immunological responses and mechanisms may discover novel targets for anti-tumoral activities.
