We contribute to the Bachelor’s degree programs in medicine, molecular medicine, odontology and the Master’s degree programs in biomedical engineering and medical chemistry. Our infrastructure is well developed with modern laboratories, core and animal facilities. You will be working both in the brand new ‘Skou Building’ and similar modernized older facilities. You can read more about the department and about the faculty .About the research project
Today we know that activation of the innate immune system is essential for mounting an efficient anti-tumor immune response in several aggressive carcinomas. One approach to boost the innate immune system and induce an anti-tumor immune response is focused on stimulation of the “Stimulator of interferon genes” (STING) pathway. However, therapeutic utilization of STING pathway activation has proven difficult, mainly due to limitations in systemic delivery of clinically relevant STING agonists. In this project we will explore novel approaches to obtain targeted STING activation of distinct innate immune populations in the tumor immune microenvironment. In parallel, we will study how the innate immune system more generally can be tailored to generate anti-tumoral effects that lead to tumor remission.
To do this, we will study various murine cancer models focusing on immunological responses and STING-related mechanisms that may explain anti-tumoral activity.Your job responsibilities
